Mundu has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers. Everything you do in the app — your bases, favorites and settings — is stored only on your device. The app talks to the internet for exactly one reason: fetching public articles, images and data from the Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons). We do not run any servers and we cannot see anything you do.
1. Who we are
Mundu: World Explorer (“Mundu”, “the app”, “we”) is an independent mobile application. For any privacy question you can contact the developer at info@mundu.app.
2. Data we collect
None. Mundu does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to us or to any third party on our behalf:
- No account — the app requires no registration, login, e-mail address or phone number.
- No analytics or advertising SDKs — the app contains no advertising networks, no usage-analytics services and no crash-reporting services from third parties.
- No server of ours — we do not operate any backend. There is nowhere for your data to go.
3. Data stored on your device
To make the app work, some information is saved locally on your device only:
- The exploration bases you create on the globe and the list of places found around them;
- Your favorite articles;
- App preferences (such as your chosen Wikipedia language and the last globe position);
- A local cache of downloaded images, to avoid re-downloading them.
This data never leaves your device. You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app’s data in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app.
4. Internet access & third-party services
Mundu downloads public, freely licensed content from the Wikimedia Foundation projects:
- Wikipedia — article summaries, titles and links;
- Wikidata — structured facts about places (coordinates, categories, foundation dates);
- Wikimedia Commons — photographs and image thumbnails.
When the app requests this content, your device connects directly to Wikimedia servers. As with any internet request, Wikimedia technically receives your IP address and a standard User-Agent string identifying the app. These requests are handled under the Wikimedia Privacy Policy. We receive nothing.
Fonts on this website are served by Google Fonts; the app itself does not use Google Fonts at runtime.
5. Location
Mundu is designed to work entirely without your physical location. Exploration happens by pointing the globe anywhere you like — not by tracking where you are. If a version of the app requests the device location permission for an optional feature, your location is used only on the device, at that moment, to position the globe; it is never stored by us, transmitted to us, or shared with anyone. You can always deny the permission and use the full app.
6. Children
Mundu does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The content shown (Wikipedia articles and Commons images) is public encyclopedic material curated by the Wikimedia communities.
7. Your rights
Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, rectify, export or delete on our side. All app data is under your direct control on your device (see section 3). For anything else, contact us at the address below.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app’s behavior ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date revised. Substantial changes will be highlighted in the app’s store listing changelog.
